We are looking for a PostgreSQL Database Administrator to join our Database Services Team. As a key member of our team, your goal is to provide the full range of Database Administrator services in a complex database environment and deliver excellent support for PostgreSQL and AWS (RDS/Aurora).

What makes you the ideal candidate in this role?

This role plays a vital part in ensuring that databases of the Cambridge University Press and Assessment Systems are properly managed, organized, and secured.

As a PostgreSQL Database Administrator, you will play a crucial role in providing Database Support and Administration such as Installation, Patching, Refresh, Backup and Recovery, Upgrade, Capacity Planning, Monitoring and Performance/SQL Tuning, Database User & Security Management.

You are also expected to engage on multi team efforts related to deployments, projects, and other application support. Your expertise will provide input into the improvement of services and processes and the mitigation of risks. And you are to Adhere to IT Service Management (ITSM) and Service Level Agreement (SLA) standards.

Willing to work on a shifting schedule (Mostly UK hours) & Wiling to do on-call support (Rotation Duty).

 

The following will help you be an ideal candidate for this post:

  • Between 2 to 5 years of experience in administrating PostgreSQL Database
  • Adept in database backup and recovery and in capacity planning Proficient in database modelling and SQL.
  • AWS Experience of managing database in one or more of the follows: (RDS, Aurora)
  • Experienced in administrating Oracle and SQL Server Databases (Desirable)
  • Familiarity with Windows and Linux; Experience in working on cloud-based infrastructure; Working knowledge on automation tools.
  • Exposure to AWS architecture principles. (Desirable)
  • Excellent communication skills, ability to articulate in both technical and business terms.
