We are looking for an Application Engineer who will be part of the Manila Application Engineers team. As a key member of our team, you are responsible for supporting business application systems for Cambridge University Press and Assessment, running in Cloud platforms, such as AWS and Azure, and On-Premise Linux and Windows Operating Systems.

What will you do in this role?

As an Application Engineer, you will play a critical role in managing and planning the implementation of projects, works on day-to-day provision of technology support, and manage maintenance activities. Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

Manage and prepare for the implementation of projects in the operational/support environments including evaluation, feasibility, technical investigations, pilots, and proof of concepts, training and knowledge transfer to and from other support teams. Describe the key result areas (not the individual tasks) that this role is expected to deliver. Start with the most important. These can be unique to the organisation.

What makes you the ideal candidate in this role?

  • Education & Experience: Degree or equivalent experience with at least 3 years in AWS Cloud Engineering, Architecture, or Infrastructure in a Systems Admin or DevOps role.
  • System Administration & ITIL: Proficiency in Unix and Windows administration, ITIL best practices, incident management, service requests, and change management.
  • DevOps & CI/CD: Experience with DevOps practices and CI/CD tools such as AWS CodePipeline, Jenkins, and Terraform.
  • Cloud & Virtualization: Strong knowledge of AWS and Azure, troubleshooting cloud environments, and experience with virtualization technologies like VMware and Hyper-V.
  • AWS Infrastructure: Familiarity with AWS services including EC2, ECS, Fargate, Route53, CloudWatch, API Gateway, Lambda, AWS databases, and networking.
  • Application & Scripting: Experience in web hosting (IIS, Apache Tomcat), Java and .NET application support, and scripting in Shell, PowerShell, Bash, Java, or Python.
  • Networking & Security: Understanding of networking concepts, firewalls, load balancers, and database technologies.
  • Directory Services & Service Management: Knowledge of Active Directory, LDAP, DNS, DHCP, and service management processes.
