We are recruiting for a Royalties Controller who will be part of our Royalties Team.  The role supports the Royalties team with the delivery of a full support service to authors and editorial teams across a range of payment, taxation, contract loading and associated queries.

The role requires a team player with a strong desire to provide excellent customer service. The ability to work flexibly and multi-task, in order to alternate between resolving complex queries and processing contract data quickly and accurately, to ensure the timely and accurate calculation and payment of authors' royalty earnings.

What will you do in this role?

Working under the supervision of one of the Royalties Leads, you will:

Ensure accurate input and maintenance of the Royalty and Author data across all systems used by the team including:

  • Accurate input and maintenance of the Royalty and Author data across all systems used by the team, including:
  • Input author/beneficiary/editor/agent bank details accurately to ensure royalty payments go to correct accounts.
  • Load author contracts accurately and promptly to maintain Sales No Contract amounts below Department targets.
  • Adjust authors' accounts as required, e.g. change of address, email, bank details, VAT registration etc.
  • Verify and input advance payments as per contract terms.
  • Verify and amend author accounts for deceased authors and their beneficiaries.
  • Verify and update author accounts for aged creditors.
  • Provide an excellent service to authors and promptly resolve their queries to avoid follow up chasers and complaints.
  • Be aware of and contribute to the preparation of the Bi-annual royalties calculation runs.
  • To prepare, verify, process and account for all author payments, including advances, for the monthly payment runs.
  • To be aware of, and to ensure compliance to our financial and contractual obligations to our authors.
  • To be aware of, and to comply with, our legal and regulatory obligations to authors and third parties, e.g. Tax Authorities.

What makes you the ideal candidate for this position?

You will be ideal for this part if you have experience in a similar role but this is not essential.   You will make a strong candidate if you have good numerical skills and excellent written communication skills, with strong attention to detail and accuracy, supported by the ability to quickly input large volumes of data.

In addition, experience, knowledge or expertise in the following would give you an advantage, but is not essential :

  • Use of Alliant, SAP and Filemaker software.
