We seek a Senior Cloud FinOps Engineer to optimize AWS costs within our FinOps framework. You'll automate cost controls, enforce tagging compliance, and manage reservations and savings plans. Collaborating with product teams, you'll drive best practices, provide data-driven insights, and enhance cost transparency for senior management.

What will you do as a Senior Cloud FinOps Engineer?

 

 As a Senior Cloud FinOps Engineer, you will manage multiple AWS accounts and collaborate with Infrastructure Engineers, DevOps, SREs, and Service Delivery Managers within a hub-and-spoke FinOps model. Your role involves providing AWS updates, identifying cost-saving opportunities, and recommending optimization strategies to stakeholders, ensuring maximum value from cloud investments.

 

Your responsibilities will include:

AWS Cost Optimization & Management

  • Monitor cloud spending across AWS accounts.
  • Identify and implement cost-saving strategies (right-sizing, scheduling, Reserved Instances, Savings Plans).
  • Leverage AWS tools (Cost Explorer, Budgets, Trusted Advisor) and third-party FinOps platforms.
  • Provide reports via CUDOS, AWS Marketplace, TAO.
  • Promote FinOps by mentoring teams and aligning cloud investments with business goals.

Financial Governance & Compliance

  • Enforce tagging, cost allocation, and governance standards.
  • Ensure accurate cost attribution for better financial planning.
  • Implement budget controls, alerts, and anomaly detection.
  • Align FinOps practices with corporate financial policies.
  • Refine governance strategies to adapt to cloud cost changes.

Automation & Engineering Integration

  • Optimize costs across AWS services (EC2, RDS, S3, ECS, EKS, etc.).
  • Automate FinOps processes with DevOps teams.
  • Integrate cost governance into CI/CD and IaC workflows.
  • Provide cost insights through transparent reporting.

Stakeholder Engagement & FinOps Culture

  • Educate teams on cloud financial best practices.
  • Advocate efficient resource use and cost optimization.
  • Update stakeholders on AWS pricing and cost strategies.
  • Implement best practices like savings plans, spot instances, and serverless efficiencies.

 

The following will help you be an ideal candidate for this post:

  • Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 2–3 years in FinOps or cloud financial management, focusing on cost optimization and governance.
  • Hands-on experience with FinOps practices, following the FinOps Foundation framework.
  • Expertise in AWS FinOps tools like Cost Explorer, Budgets, Cost Optimization Hub, Trusted Advisor, and CUDOS.
  • Proven ability to drive cloud cost optimization and identify savings opportunities.
  • Experience in Agile environments, promoting collaboration and adaptability.
  • Strong organizational, time management, and communication skills.
  • Proficient in data analysis and reporting for cost management.
  • Effective collaboration across Engineering, Finance, and Product teams.
  • Deep understanding of AWS services, including EC2, RDS, S3, ECS, EKS, EBS, and VPC.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., FinOps Certified Practitioner, AWS Solutions Architect) are a plus.
