Senior Data Engineer

Work setup: We operate in a hybrid work environment, and we encourage applicants who are open to working in the office two days a week to apply.

Work schedule: Monday–Friday, 10:00 AM–6:00 PM (Manila time), overlapping with UK hours. Occasional after-hours or rare weekend work may be required to support incidents, releases, or staffing needs.

Pay range: We value transparency and want to ensure a good fit for both parties. We encourage applicants who are comfortable within the salary range of Php 104,000 to 142,000 to apply.

We are looking for Senior Data Engineer with Data warehouse, AWS, SQL and Integration experience who will provide technical support for our AWS and Cloudera Data Engineering Teams.

What will you do in this role?

In this role, you will collaborate with colleagues across different areas of the business and branches. It is an opportunity that will enable you to widen your horizon by learning from other cultures. You are expected to establish a strong relationship with stakeholders to maximise the value of an application through the following key activities: 

• Data Pipeline development, Data warehouse management, ETL Processes, Data quality, performance and security
• DevOps Code Writing using Python, Scala, NodeJS, SQL and noSQL, among others
• DevOps Support, routine checks and performance reporting
• Deployment to Production, Continuous integration
• Agility, Knowledge Sharing, and Learning & Development

Working under the supervision of the Enterprise Data Platform(EDP) Manager in the UK, you will: 

• Write high-quality full code to agreed requirements using Python and SQL in AWS and Cloudera EDP.
• Collaborate with Architecture, Business Partners and other technical teams to plan, design, build, deploy and support the data solutions.
• Deploy and upgrade 3rd party code to cloud systems.
• Ensure all DevOps requirements are meet regards, Incidents, Change control processes, Documentation, Code and automation management.
• Operate in a high-frequency deployment model. 

What makes you an ideal candidate for this position?

The role shall involve working with our UK and outsourced teams that work outside of PH hours. It is expected that flexibility and appreciation of the constraints this may place on communications should be acknowledged. 

In addition, having the following experience, knowledge or expertise would give you an advantage: 

• 3+ years with cloud data services (e.g., AWS)
• 5+ years strong experience with relational databases (Oracle, MS SQL, MySQL, PostgreSQL)
• Background in data warehousing, data mining, and dashboards
• Experience with open-source tools (e.g., Kafka, Apache)
• Hands-on with ETL pipelines and database/software tools
• Backend development using Python, SQL, NoSQL
• Knowledge of OOP and multiple programming languages
• Basic cloud networking and DevOps experience
• Familiarity with Agile or Waterfall methodologies
• Degree in IT, Engineering, or related technical field
