Work schedule: This role requires flexibility in working hours, with regular overlap with UK operating hours and occasional out-of-hours support for deployments or management tasks. Typical Manila hours will be from 11 AM to 7 PM to align with UK team members.

We are looking for a Senior DevOps Engineer to join our Customer Solutions Team. In this role, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring Cambridge delivers secure, resilient, and scalable digital experiences across our global platforms including Web, eCommerce, Identity & Access Management, CRM, and learner-facing services. The role includes on-call duties and managing the DevOps on-call rota.

What will you do as a Senior DevOps Engineer? 

Reporting to the Senior Solutions Engineer, you will: 

  • Mentor and develop DevOps engineers, promoting excellence, automation, collaboration, and continuous learning. 
  • Design, enhance, and operate AWS cloud infrastructure with a focus on reliability, security compliance, cost optimisation, and modern cloudnative architecture. 
  • Drive endtoend automation through CI/CD, infrastructure as code (Terraform/CloudFormation), and GitOps workflows. 
  • Implement advanced DevOps and platform engineering practices, including AIassisted monitoring, predictive scaling, FinOps governance, and policy as code. 
  • Optimise and operate container and serverless ecosystems (Kubernetes, ECS/EKS, Lambda), ensuring operational excellence across incident response, observability, and largescale technical decisionmaking.

What makes you the ideal candidate for this role? 

The following will help you be an ideal candidate for this post:  

Essential: 

  • Technical Ownership: strong track record of owning production systems endtoend, applying sound judgement in risk management, incident response, security best practices, and observabilitydriven operations. 
  • Infrastructure & Systems: demonstrated depth in modern infrastructure, cloud platforms (preferably AWS), systems architecture, and Linuxbased environments, with a proven ability to diagnose, resolve, and prevent complex issues at scale. 
  • Automation: proven capability to design, implement, and uphold automation standards (including IaC, CI/CD, and Gitbased workflows), ensuring consistency, reliability, and efficiency across engineering teams. 
  • Modern Architecture & Platform Engineering: demonstrated experience enabling scalable containerised, serverless, or eventdriven systems, with the ability to evaluate tooling, guide architectural direction, and influence platform strategy. 
  • Communication and Collaboration: ability to communicate complex concepts with clarity, collaborate effectively across engineering, product, and security, and mentor peers and junior engineers while fostering a highperformance culture. 

Desirable: 

  • AWS certification (DevOps Engineer preferred; SysOps Administrator or Solutions Architect also considered).
