We are looking for a highly engaged Senior Network Engineer to provide leadership in network engineering, specializing in the provisioning, implementation, support, and management of Cambridge University Press and Assessment's network infrastructure. The role involves working with the global Network Team to support enterprise-standard technologies, analyze medium to complex projects, design network solutions, deliver excellent customer service, and adhere to industry best practices and emerging trends.

What makes you the ideal candidate in this role?

 

A confident communicator skilled in both business and technical environments, with multiple Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) certifications and extensive network management experience. Proactively identifies best practices, manages high-priority incidents, and delegates tasks to mid and junior engineers with minimal supervision in a dynamic infrastructure setting.

Key responsibilities will include:  

  • Collaborating across teams to design, plan, configure, build, optimize, and troubleshoot network infrastructure, ensuring security, resiliency, and performance.
  • Acting as the final escalation point for internal network issues, coordinating resolutions with 3rd party vendors and suppliers.
  • Leading knowledge transfers and mentoring mid/junior network engineers.
  • Championing standards for network management and architecture, including auditing, monitoring, security hardening, and capacity planning.
  • Overseeing network infrastructure for International and UK offices and Data Centres, ensuring link resiliency, load balancing, and connectivity.
  • Supporting the Network Road Map, device life cycle management, and network capacity planning.
  • Promoting continuous service improvement and addressing current and future skill gaps through training and development.

  • Monitoring & Network Tools: Solarwinds, CISCO Prime, AlgoSec Firewall Analyzer, InfloBlox
  • Cloud & Security: AWS, Azure, CloudFlare, FireEye, Guardicore
  • Virtualization & Servers: VMWare, Citrix; Windows, Linux
  • Automation/Scripting: Puppet, Bash, PowerShell, Python, Perl, Ruby, Node.js
  • Telephony & Project Management: 8x8, MS Teams; JIRA, Confluence
  • Ticketing & Windows Admin: IVANTI Service Management; AD, DNS, DHCP
  • Certifications: CISCO, CheckPoint, F5, AWS, Azure, VMWare, Windows, ITIL, ISO 27001, Agile, Six Sigma (is a plus, hands-on experience and potential for growth is considered.)
