We are looking for a Senior Platform Engineer to join our growing Hosting Automation team. In this role, you will play a key role in designing, implementing, and optimising cloud infrastructure and automation pipelines that power Cambridge's global digital products and services. You'll build cloud-native systems, automate deployments, and drive technical innovation while collaborating across teams to deliver secure, scalable, and future-ready Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) solutions.

What will you do as a Senior Platform Engineer? 

As a Senior Platform Engineer, you'll work on systems and services that are truly global. You will help drive the strategy and execution of cloud infrastructure, automation, and CI/CD pipelines that power Cambridge's worldwide operations.

Your responsibilities will include: 

• Designing and maintaining scalable and secure cloud infrastructure using Infrastructure-as-Code tools like Terraform and AWS CloudFormation.
• Developing and optimising CI/CD pipelines and automation workflows to enable reliable and repeatable deployments.
• Collaborating with engineering, operations, and security teams to deliver high-performing, compliant, and cost-efficient platforms.
• Implementing cloud security, monitoring, and governance practices to improve resilience and visibility.
• Guiding and mentoring junior engineers, promoting automation, continuous improvement, and knowledge sharing.
• Providing Level 2 production support and participating in troubleshooting and incident management.

What makes you the ideal candidate for this role? 

An ideal candidate has the following qualities: 

Essential:

• Hands-on experience with AWS, designing, deploying, and supporting production environments.
• Skilled in Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform, CloudFormation) and scripting (Python, Bash, PowerShell) to automate deployments and infrastructure.
• Experienced in building and optimising CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps) and managing code repositories (GitHub, GitLab, Bitbucket).
• Familiar with monitoring tools (Prometheus, Grafana, Nagios, Site24x7)
• Strong communicator and team player

Desirable:

• Experience with Azure
• Experience with containerization and orchestration tools (Docker, Kubernetes)
• AWS certifications (Solutions Architect, DevOps Engineer) or equivalent hands-on expertise are highly valued.
