We are recruiting for a Senior Software Engineer who will be part of our Cambridge English Engineering Team. The role supports the D2L (Direct To Learners) team with the delivery of applications that helps new learners to improve their language skills.

What makes you an ideal candidate for this position?

You are a strong candidate if you have a relevant degree or experience in a similar role. Experience in developing Web and Mobile Applications with a focus on quality, best practices, and cloud-based engineering solutions is essential. Strong interpersonal, communication, and mentoring skills are highly valued.

 

Required:

  • 5+ years of full-stack development in JavaScript or TypeScript (React Native preferred).

  • Strong grasp of coding best practices, frameworks, architecture, and web development tools (IDEs, VMs, build pipelines, etc.).

  • Proficiency in HTML5, CSS, and web technologies.

  • Ability to research, learn new technologies, and understand technical specifications.

  • Strong documentation skills and experience with software development approaches.

  • Problem-solving mindset with a proactive approach and flexibility.

  • Excellent teamwork, communication, and interpersonal skills, with an openness to feedback for continuous improvement.

 

Desirable:

  • Experience in eLearning, developing responsive web apps across devices, and with animation and games.

  • Knowledge of Minecraft Bedrock/Education Edition and graph databases (e.g., AWS Neptune).

  • Degree or PhD in computing or mathematics.

  • Experience in Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban, etc.).
