Work setup: We operate in a hybrid work environment, and we encourage applicants who are open to working in the office two days a week to apply. 

Work schedule: Monday to Friday, 10AM to 6PM Manila time, overlaps with UK operating hours 

Employment type: Permanent 

Location: Makati City, Metro Manila 

Pay range: Php 104,000 to 142,000

We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our team. This is a pivotal role within the development team, driving the reliability, scalability, and architectural integrity of our assessment APIs and machine learning model deployments.

What will you do as a Senior Software Engineer?  

Reporting to the AI/ML Engineering Lead, your accountabilities will include: 

• Architectural Ownership: Architect and own the lifecycle of scalable microservice wrappers for machine learning models. 
• API Development: Design and implement high-performance Python APIs (using frameworks like FastAPI, Flask) to serve ML models. 
• Pipeline Design: Design asynchronous processing pipelines using message queues (e.g., Celery, RabbitMQ, or SQS) to handle long-running ML inference tasks. 
• Quality Assurance: Write and maintain extensive test suites (unit, integration, and acceptance) to ensure code reliability. 
• System Observability: Implement and maintain robust observability standards (logging, metrics, distributed tracing) to provide deep visibility into system health and facilitate rapid root-cause analysis. 
• DevOps & Infrastructure: Configure and manage containerization (Docker) and orchestration manifests (Kubernetes) for services. 
• Code Quality: Drive engineering excellence by leading code reviews, setting coding standards, and mentoring junior engineers

What makes you the ideal candidate for this role? 

An ideal candidate has the following qualities: 
Essential: 

• Python Expertise: Expert-level knowledge of Python and modern web frameworks (e.g., FastAPI, Flask, Django). 
• API & Architecture: Deep understanding of Software Engineering principles, Microservices architecture, and RESTful API design. 
• Async Programming: Strong grasp of Asynchronous Programming patterns (AsyncIO) and Event-Driven Architecture (Pub/Sub, Queues). 
• Containerization: Solid understanding of Containerization (Docker) and Orchestration (Kubernetes). 
• CI/CD & Cloud: Strong experience with CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions, Jenkins) and Cloud Platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP). 
• Infrastructure as Code (IaaC): Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation. 

Desirable: 

• Experience with frontend development frameworks (React, Vue, or similar). 
• Familiarity with Machine Learning concepts (inference, latency, model versioning)
