Internal: Senior Data Platform Web Application Engineer

Work setup: We operate in a hybrid work environment, and we encourage applicants who are open to working in the office two days a week to apply.

Work schedule: Monday to Friday, 10AM to 6PM Manila time, overlapping with UK hours. Occasional after-hours or rare weekend work may be required to support incidents, releases, or staffing needs.

We are looking for a Senior Web Application Engineer with experience in web application development, data integration, AWS, and SQL, who will provide technical support and collaborate with our AWS and Cloudera Data Engineering teams to build and maintain front-end interfaces for our data platform.

What will you do in this role?

 

Working under the supervision of the Enterprise Data Platform(EDP) Manager and highly experienced team in the UK, you will: 

  • Write high-quality full code to agreed requirements using latest tools, not limited to Python and SQL in AWS and Cloudera Enterprise Data Platform.
  • Collaborate with all Business Partners and other technical teams to plan, design, build, deploy and support the data solutions.
  • Deploy and upgrade 3rd party code to cloud systems.
  • Ensure all dev ops requirements are meet regards, Incidents, Change control processes, Documentation, Code and automation management.
  • Operate in a high-frequency deployment model. 

 

What makes you an ideal candidate for this position?

The role shall involve working with our UK and outsourced teams that work outside of PH hours. It is expected that flexibility and appreciation of the constraints this may place on communications should be acknowledged. 

 

In addition, having the following experience, knowledge or expertise would give you an advantage: 

  • 3+ years working with cloud data services (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • 5+ years of experience with relational databases (Oracle, MS SQL, MySQL, PostgreSQL).
  • Background in data warehouses, data mining, and dashboard development.
  • Experience with open-source toolkits such as Kafka, Apache Spark, or Hadoop.
  • Hands-on experience with ETL pipelines, backend development, and database integrations (SQL, NoSQL, Python).
  • Working knowledge of multiple programming languages and object-oriented design.
  • Basic understanding of cloud networking and security concepts.
  • Experience managing DevOps processes and deployment pipelines.
  • Familiarity with Agile or Waterfall methodologies.
  • Degree in IT, Computer Science, or related engineering disciplines.
