We are looking for a Site Reliability Engineers who will be part of our SRE function within the Platform Operations Team.  This is a new team of engineers who will work alongside English Technologies existing Platform Support and Engineering teams.

What will you do as a Site Reliability Engineer?

 

The Site Reliability Engineer will join a new SRE function within the Platform Operations Team working alongside existing Platform Support and Engineering teams.

 

The role will be responsible for the supportability, observability, compliance and governance (SOCS) of all aspects of our ecosystem (Platforms, Applications, Services and Websites).  Responsibility for creating and maintaining software and processes that ensure the reliability and availability of the English digital platforms/websites and their software delivery pipelines. Working with other teams and 3rd party vendors is a large part of our role, where we lead collaboration.

 

What makes you the ideal candidate for this role?\

The following will help you be an ideal candidate for this post:

  • Education & Experience: Degree or equivalent with at least 3 years in a systems admin or DevOps role, including AWS Cloud Engineering, Architecture, or Infrastructure.
  • DevOps & Automation: Experience with DevOps delivery for infrastructure, applications, and configuration. Skilled in Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CDK), CI/CD (GitHub Actions), and Containerization/Orchestration (Docker, ECS).
  • Monitoring & Troubleshooting: Expertise in central logging (ELK/EFK), monitoring tools (New Relic, DataDog, Grafana), and troubleshooting cloud environments to resolve critical production issues.
  • Cloud & Technologies: Deep knowledge of AWS (Fargate, Route53, CloudWatch, API Gateway, Lambda, DynamoDB, Networking) and a broad technical stack including Python, MySQL, PostgreSQL, Java, Node.js, Git/GitHub, and Confluent/Kafka.
  • Soft Skills & Work Environment: Strong troubleshooting, debugging, communication, and documentation skills. Experience in Agile product development and working across global teams.
  • Bonus: Knowledge of Azure or Google Cloud is a plus but not required.
