The Software Development Team Lead's principle role is to manage a development team responsible for designing, building, and maintaining software applications in their respective domain. They will be a highly proficient software engineer in their own right and their duties will include leading the day to day work of their team of engineers, designing solutions, allocating work packages, and being responsible for the overall quality of delivered software by their team (which will entail putting in place code quality review processes with the Development Team Lead as the final checkpoint). The role involves working with a wide range of stakeholders: business “product” owners, Scrum Masters/project managers, other development teams, infrastructure, service desk, and the Press architectural team in order to shape and prioritize work and to resolve issues. The Team Lead must be comfortable in highly collaborative environments across multiple time zones and geographical locations.
