Job Purpose

The FileMaker engineer principal role is to maintain and carry out development work on FileMaker systems, and on other supported applications as appropriate, at all stages of the product life-cycle. The FileMaker engineer will work on an Agile development environment with continuous integration process, unit testing and peer reviews.

Principal Duties

  • Plan and carry out development work on FileMaker systems, and on other supported applications as appropriate, at all stages of the product life-cycle.
  • Provide global applications support for designated applications and systems.
  • Prepare requirements catalogues and functional specifications.
  • Assess the impact of business requests for change and development.
  • Create, maintain and disseminate effective documentation of systems and development.
  • Identify and quantify tangible project benefits, ensuring traceability to enterprise and architectural strategic plans.
  • Research and identify project approaches and solutions, documenting and recommending options, analysing costs, risks, constraints and dependencies.
  • Undertake data analysis, mapping and cleansing.
  • Write test plans and scripts, contributing to testing where necessary.

Knowledge and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree or relevant professional qualification.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, adaptable to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and conceptual skills.
  • Knowledge of programming languages/concepts (FileMaker would be an advantage).
  • Experience of software testing.
  • Knowledge of project-management and/or business analysis techniques.
  • An understanding of programming concepts and/or data modelling.
