We are looking for a Software Engineer to join our Academic Development Team. As a key member of our team, your main role is to provide business solutions by developing and maintaining software applications. What will you do as a Software Engineer?

As a Software Engineer, your main role is to provide business solutions by developing and maintaining software applications. The Software Engineer will work in an agile development environment with continuous integration process, unit testing, and peer reviews. 

You must be able to explain business processes to other programmers and technology restraints to non-technical business managers. You also need to have knowledge of some computer programming languages and applications.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Writes code using the agreed framework and architecture to provide business solutions.
• Maintains code quality by writing unit tests and adhering to code standards.
• Investigates and fixes issues raised by customers, internal or external.
• Analyses business requirements and contributes to the design and implementation of the solution.
• Coordinates work and shares technical knowledge with members of the Agile development team, such as Software Quality Analysts, Product Owners, and other Software Engineers.
• Works closely with Site Reliability Engineers (SRE) to ensure secure and efficient implementation of infrastructure as code.
• Continually updates their knowledge and skills by attending in-house or external training, reading documentation, and learning new programming languages and frameworks.

What makes you the ideal candidate for this role?

The following will help you be an ideal candidate for this post:

• You have 2 – 3 years of backend development experience using JavaScript/TypeScript.
• You have experience using NestJS
• Knowledge in Git or other version control system
• Knowledge in MongoDB, ElasticSearch, and Redis
• Knowledge in AWS Athena, and other AWS services, or other cloud services
• Knowledge in Docker and/or Kubernetes
• Skills to communicate clearly and effectively with colleagues in IT team, as well as non-technical users
