We are recruiting for a passionate Software Engineer who will be part of our Technology Team in Manila. The Manila hub is located in Makati City, operating to support the university's global operations.

What will you do in this role?

You will often deal with the infrastructure design and programming, research, and development of our websites. 

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Planning, processing, and efficiently performing work, self-organising in an Agile way of working.
  • Maintains product quality in its integrated level of the development.
  • Work closely with ScrumMaster, Project Owners and Web Delivery Manager to ensure that tasks or projects are delivered on time, on budget, on standards, and met the requirements.
  • Keeps the quality of code by adhering to Coding Standards.

What are the qualifications?

The ideal candidate should have solid software development experience with an aptitude for fast learning, and community building by participating in guilds and external software developer communities.

In addition, experience, knowledge or expertise in the following are an advantage:

  • Educated to degree level in a relevant IT/Software related degree.
  • 2-4 years' experience in a relevant set of Web development technologies such as PHP, CMS frameworks (e.g. Drupal, WordPress etc), CSS3 & HTML5, JavaScript and related frameworks (e.g. React, Vue.JS or AngularJS ), REST Web services
  • Ideally to have gained industry certification in one of the above areas.
  • Experience of data manipulation, tuning, and performance work across a range of industry databases including: Oracle or MySQL.
  • To be comfortable with using industry standard tools and practices in the Software Development world including SVN and Git source code control systems.
  • Experience of working within an Agile development process (Scrum or similar).
  • Good written and oral communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively with colleagues in the Technology group as well as non-technical users.
  • Experience on Python or Java is desired.
  • Knowledge in search technology i.e. ElasticSearch, SOLRExperience on solution design & principles, analysis and documentation is desired.
  • Experience of Web infrastructure and related technology areas and modern day “DevOps” engineering practices, tools and processes (e.g. Continuous Integration or Delivery, DevOps on AWS) is desired.
