Job Title: Intelligence Manager

Salary: £35,200 - £45,700

Location: Cambridge, UK - Hybrid (2-3 days per week in office)

Contract: Permanent

Hours: Full time (35 hours per week)

Play a pivotal role in the upholding the security of IELTS.

We are looking for an Intelligence Manager to provide proactive identification and assessment of global threats to IELTS integrity through open source and specialist intelligence gathering. This role also involves analysing emerging cheating methods and organised fraud activity, providing critical inputs that feed into data analytics, visualisations and high impact intelligence products that support risk mitigation.

We are Cambridge University Press & Assessment, a world-leading academic publisher and assessment organisation and a proud part of the University of Cambridge.

About the role

Working at the intersection of intelligence, data and security, this role delivers timely intelligence and high-impact reporting that empowers senior stakeholders to make informed decisions and drive continuous improvements to assessment security.

Additional responsibilities and accountabilities include:

  • Setting intelligence collection priorities to ensure proactive identification of emerging threats
  • Applying robust intelligence analysis methodologies to assess risks and identify trends
  • Maintaining effective data and intelligence management processes and protocols
  • Driving continuous improvements to intelligence gathering, analysis and reporting practices
  • Producing and distributing high-quality intelligence reports, briefings and threat assessments
  • Supporting the development and delivery of the intelligence and data strategy in partnership with security and analytics colleagues

This position has been classified as a hybrid role, requiring the selected candidate to typically spend 40-60% of their time collaborating and connecting face-to-face at their dedicated location. Aside from our hybrid principles, other flexible working requests will be considered from the first day of employment, including other work arrangements should you require adjustments due to a disability or long-term health condition.

About you

You'll bring a strong foundation in intelligence gathering and threat analysis, with the ability to identify emerging risks and translate complex information into clear, actionable insights. Curious, analytical and proactive, you'll be motivated by the opportunity to help protect the integrity of a globally recognised assessment.

You will have:

  • Strong knowledge of open-source intelligence (OSINT) techniques, tools and research methodologies
  • Knowledge of current examination malpractice methods, including proxy testing, question leaks, AI cheating and organised fraud
  • A solid understanding of dark web, social media and online marketplace monitoring principles
  • Understanding of security and threat intelligence reporting principles, with the ability to communicate findings clearly to a range of stakeholders

If you meet the above minimum requirements, we encourage you to apply. Your application will be even stronger if you can also demonstrate the following desirable criteria:

  • Familiarity with high stakes assessment security or IELTS specific threats
  • Knowledge of data analytics and reporting processes, including visualisation tools
  • Familiarity with case management systems or reporting tools

We are a Disability Confident (DC) employer that is committed to equality and inclusion ensuring our recruitment process is accessible to all.
