Job Title: Programme Manager - Publication Integrity

Salary: £42,000 - £56,800

Location: Cambridge, Hybrid

Contract: Fixed Term, Full Time, 35 Hours Per Week

Ready to lead impactful change in research publishing? We're hiring a Programme Manager to drive improvements and
capacity building in publication integrity.

We are Cambridge University Press & Assessment, a world-leading academic publisher and assessment organisation and a proud part of the University of Cambridge.

As Programme Manager you will lead a suite of cross-functional initiatives aimed at enhancing publication integrity. This role combines strategic thinking, technical expertise, and strong project management skills to
build capacity in detecting, preventing, investigating, and responding to at-scale research integrity issues.

About the role

As the Programme Manager for Publication Integrity, you will work with multiple teams and stakeholders to define, coordinate, and execute initiatives to strengthen the organization's response to research integrity issues. You will be part of the growing Publication Ethics and Research Integrity team.

Responsibilities include:

  • Creating toolkits and identifying techniques or technologies for detecting and preventing fraudulent research (papermills).
  • Developing and improving systems and workflows for investigating research integrity at scale.
  • Managing and administrating programme governance, meetings, reporting, and stakeholder communications.
  • Shaping long-term strategies to ensure Cambridge maintains a high standard of research integrity.

About you

  • You will bring a strong understanding of research publishing processes, stakeholders, technologies, and systems, ideally including familiarity with tools and approaches for detecting, investigating, and managing publication ethics and research integrity issues.
  • Experience defining and leading complex, cross-functional programmes with multiple projects. Skilled in resource management, stakeholder engagement, risk mitigation, and programme delivery.
  • Excellent verbal and written skills for clear reporting, facilitating meetings, and consulting with stakeholders. Able to distil complex information for senior management decision-making.
  • Proven ability to work within and across teams, inspire others, and manage competing priorities. You are strategic yet hands-on the detail, with the ability to drive initiatives forward.
  • Desirable skills include experience with business analysis, business continuity planning, and evaluating technologies to enhance programme outcomes.
